Birthstone Jewellery makes such a lovely gift that is personal and specific to the person receiving it.

Early civilizations such as India and Babylon attributed gemstones with magical properties and over time, astrologers assigned gems of certain colours to the twelve signs of the zodiac to help people influence the planets in their favor.

Other times these gemstones were called "Birth stones or Birthday Stones" and were associated with the month of birth.

There are three main families of birthstone: - Mystical, Ayurvedic and Modern

Mystical birthstones are of Tibetan origin and date back over a thousand years.
Ayurvedic birthstones are from the ancient Indian medicine and philosophy dating back to ancient India (1500 BC).

Modern birthstones were  In 1912 in an effort to standardize them, the American national association of jewellers officially adopted a list, called Modern and is currently the most widely used list in the United States and many other locations, including United Kingdom, Australia and Thailand.
